I got them for a pretty good price after haggling the cost down because they didn't have runners with them.
I guessed a set of genuine rails from Porsche would be £600? Maybe £750? Needless to say they proved to be even more than that. Which is scandalous.
But anyway I'm delighted with these seats. They are in superb condition.

They are actually the very rare 'RS' version of the hardbacks. By which I mean they don't have the 4-way electric seat adjustments.
The motorised adjustment was deleted (to save weight) on the RS cars.
These seats came from an RS where the owner decided to change over to racing buckets. Apparently they were removed at 7,000km and stored.
I can believe it, they are like new.

One seat is absolutely perfect, the other has just the slightest of creasing in the leather, just enough for you to believe they have been used.
I can tell that they came from a LHD car. The right seat is unmarked.
Strictly speaking they really are too good to use in this car, they should be in an RS, but hey, they will look superb!

I'll be stripping them apart and painting the backs in Mexico Blue.

Those seats are a very nice buy, well done.
In the absence of the electric adjustment, how does one change the height? And indeed the relative height front and back? (I tend to use my hardbacks with the front fully up and the back fully down, to give a bit of under-thigh support).

I would find it hard to paint them they are so lovely and original and rare.......

I think I would be wrapping them instead in Mexico blue just in case I ever wanted the original colour back.

Paul - really enjoying seeing another non-longhood resto, thanks for sharing. It looks like you're having a lot of fun with that. I also must confess I share Mike's queasiness at painting those rare seats.....but it's yours and all that.

Yeah, I thought I'd be hearing that from you Mike.
Largely because I'd been having those thoughts myself.
I did investigate the wrapping option but the colours weren't close enough.
So, I will be painting them. The metallic black is painted on so it would be possible to return to original if someone ever wanted to.

Like I said at the outset - as far as the cognoscenti are concerned - I'm ruining a perfectly good car. And now I'm ruining good seats too.

Not really. They can only be original once.

But hell they're your seats....do what you like with them, they are not in the original car anyway now....

I am reminded how difficult it can be putting a restoration on-line for such public scrutiny.
Those who contribute to these restoration threads probably experience moments when they wonder why.
