Thanks Kev I wondered what that was for!

Afternoon all.

Long time but I finally got some bits from the folks at mittlemotor. Carpet set, pins for rear pads and rear door window seals that were missing from my old order with 914 rubber. As always (Im not picking on MM its most suppliers) there are bits missing and bit sent in error <sigh>.

Anyway good news I slotted the new pins in ok and tightened up all the brake pipes. I'll adjust the handbrake and the pads best I can then pluck the courage up to add fluid to the system... I might leave that today:-). Its a bit warm to get all sweary:-)

Re the carpet set, do I need to add any under lay?

Its a hot one... even too hot to be in the garage.

Yesterday I fitted the pins for the rear pad and then fitted the rear window rubber I had from MM. Now that was a work out. It took an hour of soaping, pulling, pushing etc. Im sure there must be an easier way.

In terms of bleeding and adjusting. Am I right in thinking that I need to wait until the engine and drive shafts are fitted before I adjust the rear brakes?

Which rear window rubber was that that was difficult to fit Andrew?

its 914.531.144.10 the rubber that runs vertically down from the top of the roll bar to level with the top of the door. It fits into an aluminium channel thats screwed in to the body. The rear of the door window fits into it.



The aluminium channel is in the above picture.

ah that one! I though you meant a rubber for the rear window! Yes, it is a bit of a bugger that one - took me ages too!

afternoon all

my new fuel filter arrived. I was hoping to mount it in the space under the tank as Kev advised but its enormous:-) too big to go through the inspection hole or in the hole under the tank where the tank fuel lines can be accessed. Has anyone mounted the filter in the engine bay? Either that or can anyone recommend a smaller filter?

Also Im looking to fit my bumpers. Im missing a couple of spacer tubes 133807173 (the bits that go in the body mounted shocks to guide the bumper bolt into) does anyone have any spare or should I just try and find some similar tubing and cut it down?

Ive just found that design 911 supply both the spacer tubes and the square fuel filters, fingers crossed will be good:-)

mmm design 911 dont have any spacer tubes after all... I might need to improvise

It should be fairly easy to make some spacer tubes. Let me know if you struggle as I can help out

Good morning all

does anyone have any experience of fitting the metal rear inner bumper to the outer rubber moulding on the 75/76 (rear bumper)?

I dont have any plastic rivets that hold the rubber casing to the steel inner bumper so I drilled some holds and connected them up with plastic cable ties. Not convinced I wont be loosing the outer rubber along a country lane at some point:-) I might have to think of something else more substantial.

Anyway the question is - does the steel inner just get fixed into place by the plastic rivets or do the right and left outer edges somehow get fixed into the rubber? I can see a couple of groves in the rubber outer edges that the steel could fit in but I dont want to force it in and split the casing ifs its not meant to fit that way....

Andrew the outer edges of the rubber bumper connect to the hooks on the four wings of the body shell in the indentations where the bumper fits; not on the inner metal.

yes I see those, theres another area that the metal inner sits in that could be slotted. Ill add some more cable ties and fit the bumper as is.

In hindsight if its all fitted together correctly then it will sit right when I put it on the car.
