I note there have been no replies on the Friday dinner topic since your post on 7th March reference eating at the hotel on Friday night. Sarah & I are definitely up for it you guys are. Maybe someone else might pipe up and join us if we make a start. Would 8pm be too late as a compromise ? Sarah and I would struggle to make it there before then.

The original plan of finishing in Whitby or Robin Hoods bay had to go out of the window as soon as we reached over 20 cars .. just wouldn't be possible to get us all parked.


BUT, at last I have sorted the finish point for the C2C

We are all going to finish at a wonderfull location on the cliff tops overlooking Robin Hoods Bay where teas/ coffees etc will be available. Assuming it's sunny, you'll have one of the best views of the Yorkshire Coastline & if you're feeling energetic there is a pathway down to the beech so you can dip your toes .

Just read the whole thread again... hmm I may have to change my mind. Can't miss out on this one... I still have my job and as long as they don't take any more of my salary off me then I should be OK!

I shall catch Juliet at an unsuspecting moment and convince her that another 2 days spent in a 911 is a good idea!

Now then, Mrs ashley MkII, is it to be 3 weeks in Crete for some sun, sea and summat else, or C2C? I have promised her an unnymoon in Sept 'cos we can't get away straight after the nuptials due to pressure of work. Maybe we could do both.....

To be honest, the only thing I need are numbers for the Saturday night meal ..... & I need to provide this info to the hotel at least a week before.

You need to book the accomodation. The main hotels are booked up ( as far as I know ), but there are plenty of other places to stay nearby.

The rest of the event will be a very laid back affair with the emphasis on having a relaxed yet fun drive through some beautiful countryside.

There is no official route, although suggested places to visit will be provided .... and of course it so happens the roads between these places are fantastic You will ultimatley be responsible for planning your own route ( there are legal implications for me providing route maps ) , but I think my tourist guide will provide very helpful

There are no official lunch stops en-route either, as it will be so much easier for people to stop where they fancy rather than trying to book a place for 80 people

At the moment we have around 40 pre-73 Porsches crossing the UK via some of Englands finest countryside

Just a heads up from me.


Caroline is already finding it a bit uncomfotable in the the car - just a few hours on Sunday proved that.

Realistically a week before due date is going to make this difficult for us.

I have paid a deposit at the Friday and Saturday hotels so if anyone wants to take them over, let me know.

I'm sure all the long in the tooth parents on here could have told you that a transpennine, twisty road, stiffly spring classic Porsche rally a week before your wife's due date was hardly likely to be a goer. I admire your previous optimism though.
