Have those hands and dials been refinished at some point as they are snow white and not yellowed as much as I thought? Or is it the flash?

Both the numbers and hands are yellow - the flash has whitened them considerably. I'm not sure but the hands are marginally brighter than the number dots - so they may be refinished hands - in any event they are no longer luminous so in the dark I have the handy ability to view twelve spots in a circle.

I got mine for my 40th - it was made in 1963 - the year I was born - I made the shop owner take me round the corner to a watchmaker to take the back off and show me the year.

Before getting it I was on Timezone every day. Once I got it I was just really happy with it (still am) and stopped going on TZ. I used to get the glass polished whenever I went down to London - brought it up like new - you don't know anyone round here who'd do that do you Jason?

From the pic yours looks like a 5512 - as it has the pointed crown guards. Nice, I'd love one of those too!

I get my watches done by Steve at Ryte Time mortgages in Leicester - he's a top guy - PM me and I'll let you have his details.

The strap will come up nice just using a cape cod cloth but the glass on yours you will have to be careful on as I'm not sure what material it will be or if its ever been replaced.

Lovely watch though mate and some nice Wabi!!!

I really like watches, but I found the opposite - bought the one I wanted, and that was that. It's only a Speedmaster Reduced, but I wear it all the time - at work, painting the shed, fixing the car, in bed. It's hammered to crap, but I love it.

I do sometimes wonder if I'd like a full-sizes one, but only now and again.

James - wear that Sub forever and be happy with it. My godfather has one that he bought in the early eighties and treats it like I do mine. Some of the black edging has worn away and it looks awesome.

Shiny watches are as gehlorhd as shiny cars. Use it like you would a daily-driver!

Oh Good Lord! I only spent three hours last night looking at the watches for sale, honest...

Then the Patek forum...then the Omega forum...then the.......aaarrrggh!
They are all just too pretty....mmmmmm Patek Nautilus and Patek Calatrava...mmmm Submariners and the green bezel one....I was moist, then tumescent, then priapic....NURSE!

I mean I used to be able walk from Kendals to Pret in town without stopping, just a nod, and there's one that's yellow, and there's one that's shiny and blue and red, off we go for the ham and greve....but now...I looked today in THREE shops for nearly forty minutes, each!

MANTRA/ must buy food and clothes for children and wife, not Patek Philippe Nautilus, must not listen to 'wise decision sir' comments from sales people, put it back and walk away/MANTRA

How does one control the lust???

Curse that Timezone, and that Bell and Ross that blinks up very time I look at another watch, telling me how long I've been looking...

Yes I've got the pointed crown guards, and the twinlock (as opposed to triple lock) winder. I must admit I'd thought it was a 5513 but I was never clear on the distinction
