Back on the brightware prep tonight.

I’m going fully polished for the end result but it’s so tempting to stay satin brushed when you are at this stage of the process!

Another hour tonight with 1200, then 2000 grit wet then the Mothers polish. This is the first bit I’ve got to a ‘finished’ level bit no doubt I’ll do the rest then do this one again to make it match!

But it’s shiny enough for me. I know it’s not protected now, but it will keep me off the streets keeping it nice

Whilst I’m polishing brightware Steve is painting. He’s still fighting the bumpers but it’s getting closer…

That colour is amazing. Get busy with your spanners and you might be able to drive it to the swap meet.

Not really got a plan, other than the classic ‘reassembly is the reverse of removal’…

First job is cavity waxing followed by the loom and fuel/brake pipes down the tunnel. Probably then do the panel damping inside.

When the loom is in the parts will hopefully naturally fall into place in a sensible order.

No doubt I’ll fit dry lights and grilles early to make it feel like I’m getting somewhere!

I'm starting to think about...probably prematurely getting mine back together. I was thinking about getting it back on the wheels first purely from the perspective of being able to move it around. I also wrote a list of the jobs I needed to do and came up with a time estimate of around 220hrs to do the rest of the assembley work and component restoration. No idea how accurate this will be but I was just interested in getting a rough idea.

My shell is on a trolley (that you can see in the pic above) bolted to the suspension mounts so will stay up on that until the very last minute, I’ll probably also the lift the trolley onto axle stands to get it to a good working height.

Hopefully it won’t get in the way of putting the loom etc in as that will be really annoying!

When you get to it, fit your rear reflectors to the bumpers before refitting the bumpers. Coming from someone who recently tried to do it the other way.
