Great numbers and super happy with the result and the engine sounds simply glorious 8) ....

...with MFI there's always a juggling act and Nick will now spend some testing the car on the road and balancing out the lean spot around 6,000 revs to optimise usable road power...

...the car is now back with Gary to sort a gearbox oil leak that cropped up in the session and modify the suspension and change rear tyres as planned. It'll then go back to Chris at Center Gravity for a final suspension set-up and the car will be pretty much finished.

I can then start working on a few stone chips and have a track day planned in June.

I think I'm going to enjoy the summer of 2026! :)

Cheers,

Whilst the 934/5 side plates would have worked well, they just weren't right for this car....so these have swapped out for something a little more period correct....

Image

...the Group 4 cars were homologated to run with coil overs and torsion bars and had special side spring plates brackets designed to work with needle bearings. I've only ever seen these fitted to R6 however I've spoken with George Dyer who raced RSR's in period and this is how he remembers the set-up...

Image

Image

....all RSR's I've seen these days run standard road spring plates and brackets, possibly due to the needle bearings being troublesome or having little benefit......whilst we've cheated and manufactured standard rubber bushes to fit doing away with bearings so a conventional set-up but with the period look....

Image

...not something many would notice but if you now look inside the rear arches this is pure 1974 8) ....

No more compromise! :)

...another change is swapping the 245/60 rear tyres for 225/60's....

Image

...whilst I've seen RS's use both sizes of rear tyre, the 245's were just too big imo and whilst 225's may be a tad small they give a much better stance and look. I think standard spec 235's would certainly have been the sweet spot but sadly not available...

....due to the changes the car will now go back to Chris at Center Gravity and I'll probably raise the ride height a touch but pretty much there now.

...the car was due to go back to Gary Cook at GDC Automotive for these changes at a later date however an issue with a gear box leak at the end of my rolling road session necessitated this happening sooner....

Image

....my issue turned out to be a porous gearbox end case and required the engine and box out again to fix! :? Mad considering the end case was blasted, machined and chromated without anyone spotting a problem and since the gearbox was rebuilt it's sat for the past four years full of oil without an issue and was then used for 400 miles all being good....the rolling road exposed the weakness with a small hole in one corner in what otherwise is a sound end case in good condition! What turned out to be a simple twenty quid weld cost me a bit more!

The saving grace is having good people on my side and big shout out to Gary for taking the car back, resolving the issue as well as completing all the planned modifications without any drama within two weeks! The guy really is legend! :notworthy:

So after collecting the car Wednesday I took it to Nick Fulljames who scared me shitless (the boy sure can drive!) road testing the car and tweaking the engine set-up for road use as planned after the rollers.....

Image

....now absolutely perfect and back home, other than my pending trip to CG, I'm hoping to avoid putting it back on a trailer for the foreseeable!....

Fantastic that the car is now all sorted. Will we be seeing it at the DDK3 meeting? I do hope so 8)
