With Angus building my 2.5 SR at the moment, and the amount of time I have spent at Greatworth already seeing what they do firsthand, I can absolutely vouch for the exemplary work he and his highly professional team do there, plus they do not seek to charge for every single second (unlike someone between Bicester and Aylesbury!…). Their rates are reasonable at £80 per hour + VAT and Angus is always seeking to invest in new facilities - a dyno and rolling road being the next things on his list.

Of course if you are going to bridge a 3” gap in an oil pipe with an 8” rubber hose maybe don’t fasten the 6 jubilee clips so tight they pierce the hose?



Also when removing or fitting the rubber S side trim maybe don’t use a screwdriver or similar to prise the trim into place every 1cm along the entire length…..

If that's sae100r6, then the temperature range of marginal for oil as it's max operating temp is 100 degrees C (from a quick Google).

Fabulous, who in their right mind would try to fix a fuel line like that? I want to think that the pipe was on its last legs and not actually holed when the bodge was applied, but then I like to think the best of people!

Or a gear linkage with LX tape and hosepipe…

Yeah interestingly Matt said it was hidden away also, so again you would never be able to know until it failed….

No change unfortunately.

It's still in the garage while I continue to get quotes I can't afford at the minute.....

Might have to compression fit repair it in the short term (and see if that works) until a full proper repair is possible/affordable.

Hi Jason, sincerely hope you get it sorted soon, nowt worse than having a old Porsche sat in the garage, unable to use it due to no fault of your own but at your expense, I know too well

Yes, yellow car running well at the moment, starting to enjoy it again just pottering around locally in it

Managed to get some time to get in the garage and move the cars around and get to inspect this oil pipe repair further…

I ran a light and camera down the sills in both directions and there are no other repairs and no other rubber pipes. I think we can safely say that the above statement was not true and the 9” rubber pipe with 6 jubilee clips WAS the repair to a 3” cut out oil pipe.





I have had a few quotes now to repair it properly and they range from £5,500 to £7,000 so it’s simply not affordable at present

To that end I will try and fit a compression pipe repair to at least try and use the car a bit and make sure there are no other disasters to be found!!

For anyone interested the external pipe diameter seems to be 16mm with internal 12mm.

I’ll update how I get on when we do it….

You have opened the sill so perhaps a full and final repair should be done to the pipe from cooler to stat.
I don't think you need a Porsche specialist to do that, just a good classic car outfit close to you?

I see you are located in the Midlands, a large area, Gary uses a good Motorsport restorer by him who I think could do the work, CMS in Bridgnorth may be another?

Hope it will be sorted quickly, but also far more cost effectively.
