Petrol tank home today

Having stripped most of the old underseal and crud I decided to chemically strip it ,followed by a pressure test and pro clean inside and out

Then zinc'd and cleaned again inside out ,,then primer ready for re-finishing good as new

Just need to find the link that Mike 210bhp put on here regarding correct tank colours !!

Anyone remember the correct RAL number for my 71 coupe tank ?

And some more bits ftom the blaster

Lots of bits done but still have off days where it feels that nothings happening

Our dining room looks better stocked than sheffield OPC , I did promise my better looking half that the room would be cleared out last Christmas and it was ,,if only briefly lol

Engine and box on the big wish list having returned from a southern "specialist" who wanted a more money than you can shake a Yorkshire stick at......and that was just for the gearbox

Mortgage needed the size of a barnsley terraced house for the engine (no offence barnsley ! My little sister lives there and she could have paid for my engine if she hadn't bought a house on cope st)

Oh well ! It'll come together all at once I'm told

Mr s****thorpe lost a cpl of main dealer contracts for paint and bodywork...

I don't think it was anything to do with me or this thread ..I know one or two of you had wished him luck with his future business deals lol

I was having a bit of a panic this week as I'd been studying Darren65's gorgeous tangerine car

I can get stressed easily and admit openly to suffering sometimes from the "black dog"

Compared to Darrens car mine looked pale on the pics so I was wondering if I ought to rethink the paint choice and look for a better match

Darren sensibly pointed out that images aren't always best for likeness and given that we have both used octoral HS 018 there shouldn't be any real difference in shade ,,,,,,at times like these the support and advice on ddk can be invaluable !

I had started to worry that it would never look as pretty as the other tangerine cars around and some of you guys have pushed the bar so high that it can be hard for those of us with limited skills or resources to compete

Not that there's a competition,,we are all very lucky to have these fabulous cars but none the less I'd still like mine to turn out pretty good and not be embarrassed when parked with some of the more well known cars on here

I appreciate all the advice I've received from you lot,, can't wait till I'm on four wheels and we can go for a spin together !

Don't go down the road of comparing to others imho .... Everyone, incl the owners of said cars, can always pick fault with their own.

You've got nothing to worry about Matthew, you're doing a fabulous job from what I see and you have a car and shell to die for.......your sill photos have become part of my reference collection!

Keep up the great work and keep the pictures coming.......the world can never have enough photos of tangerine early Porsche's!

I cannot believe those shots of the sills. That alone make the car unique and very special in it's own right!

it's almost a shame to paint the sills on this ..but protection is important if I'd like it to survive

The square plate in the middle of this shot, holes in each corner, where does that go?
Never seen that plate before.

That part is off my e type ,,it goes at the bottom of the rear suspension cradle ..I'm juggling two rebuilds
