Thanks for the nudge Jo, I haven't had many updates for a while as the guys over the pond are waiting for interior bits and working out engine finishes etc. However today I got some photos from Troy who is putting the final touches to the bodywork. Firstly the front bumper and then the headlights. I have decided to try and keep this car as original as possible, so although they are not the norm over here Ive kept the overriders (bumperettes) which are a classic US look. I hope they will also protect the car if any of my fellow Londoners are struggling to find a large enough parking space! The headlights are also US standard, if I'm honest I don't know whether they are MOT compliant, maybe someone else could give some advice on that?


























I'm really pleased with the attention to detail (from here). Any comments gratefully received.

Anyway more updates from Troy and finally I get to see the car with the bonnet on which hasn't happened in 12 months...

The front is now done and the new carpet fitted!

Jos there's a big problem. Your car appears to be ready but you are in the UK posting pictures of it. Get over there goddamn it and drive it back. Or to the port. Or something.

Are you planning to go out and drive it prior to shipping? I'm thinking about making a purchase in the US, and wondering how easy it is to arrange short-term insurance...?

And dont worry about the headlights.. they look fine ( -admittedly, not as good as H4s though.. )

Great to see some of you guys at the Orange Tree, it reminded me that I haven't updated the progress of the car since September so I have been looking through emails and Facebook and downloading photos to the bucket. Needless to say it has taken a lot longer than I thought to get where we are. Everyone says it will cost more and take twice as long and they are usually right. I have been flat out at work though and apart from a gentle nudge here are there I haven't been pushing the guys to get it finished anytime soon. Which is a good thing as we had been delayed in getting both interior bits and also engine parts. Firstly the interior. Most of what was left in the car was pretty far gone, so we could attempt to repair or patch it up but in the end it would have meant mismatched vinyl and let the rest of the car down. Eric is fantastically connected in the US and went straight to Tony from Autos International as well as Stoddard for the interior bits. Here's where we started from;



































So all in all pretty rough and although original, not very salvageable. I'm also certain the carpet wasn't original in the end. Troy set about stripping what was left, painting where necessary and restoring it to its former glory.
















































Apparently it smells like a new car, I'm sure that won't last....

Cant wait to see it.

Looking really great Jos...started planning a road trip to collect it yet?
