Paint went on as planned on Friday

Refit beginning today

With a week and a day left it’s still touch and go as to whether it will be going to CLM but going to give it a go

Just been to see the car

Suffice to say it’s not going to Classic Le Mans

It’s looks great Bootsy but it’s not very yellow or have I missed something?

So there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Having taken it off the road some 2 and a half years ago with a bit of tidying up planned here's where we are today.

Image

A freshly painted shell in Porsche Midnight Blue slowly being reassembled. Windows now all in with new rubbers

Stripping down a 993 takes time as many of you will know and don't be fooled into thinking there will be just a few bits that need replacing.

For example behind those rear bumpers (for which I ended up sourcing a new bumper due to distortion from degraded heat shields) you're bound to need new heat shields, to remedy some corrosion on the rear chassis rails, replace the bumper support arms etc. etc.

So numerous orders to Type911 who have been great and some direct from Porsche have, I hope come to an end with the final big box just landing at my office.

So what's left......

Fit the front rear wheel arch liners which have just arrived, refit some more interior items, few more bits of trim which are in the box of tricks next to me.

Brakes have all been rebuilt but need setting up, new wheels and tyres on, road test, MOT and I may just be driving soon!

There's something very nice about a newly painted shell - really pleased with the paint and it's still to have a final polish at the bodyshop.

Rear wiring requires some tidying so that's left to do - currently a mess

and all those little reassembly jobs which is so much more pleasurable with clean parts and a freshly painted surface.

So fingers crossed I will be having some fun before the Summer is out!

Just dropped some more bits off at the workshop.

Little steps each day and then back to the paint shop for final polishing. new wheels and tyres going on when everything is finished

What, you don't get back until May? That's a hell of a holiday. You must earn too much.
