Had a little time in the garage today and the underside and arches are done! 5 more bottles of Raptor...

Time to get it off the rollover jig and on the trolley.

Taking some of the masking off the side that’s cured helps the motivation as it’s starting to look more finished.

Next is the luggage bay and finishing the bits that were under the rollover jig mounts.




Bit of detail masking down the sides (under the sill finishers) so the line for the top coat to go to is clear

Cheers Mark, Give it a week or so and I’ll have the panels back on and then it will really move on

No actual progress today other than psychological, but fully unmasked, off the rollover jig and onto the trolley.

Wheeled it outside for a sweep up and now back in ready for the next stage of underbonnet paint/stonechip. Same inside the front wings then panels back on.

I’ve a local paint shop coming over for a look next week if I’m ready so time to crack on!

It’s a real motivator seeing the full shell again, suddenly (almost) becomes a car. When you’ve been staring at it a range of 6 inches for so long it’s nice to get the wider view.




Took about 50 bits of masking off under here!

Remasked the whole car, sanded and cleaned the luggage bay ready for it’s black top coat:




Then in a few moments it’s done:



It will dry more matt, this is still very wet!

Satisfying!

Yes front panel will be green, but it desperately needed some coverage to stop it gathering rust before my eyes!

You can still top coat over this, worst case it can be whipped off again.

Look forward to reading what your paint man says esp the method he will use, ie wings and door separate to the shell etc.

Had a big clear-out of old fasteners yesterday to clear some shelf space but none of those odd ball cap heads for the hinges, loads of K nuts for the front wings for some reason.

The panels will all need to be blocked into each other bolted in place, how they are painted is less important to me, let’s see!

The nice thing about all your great work Gary, is, now you won't give a damn when you get a messy under carriage.

Or will you be wanting to keep it neat and tidy now?

My undercarriage is often messy

It will be difficult to not try to keep it vaguely clean underneath now I've spent so much time on it, but it will still have arch liners, so most of that sheep shite will be kept out of the little nooks and cranies.
