As Gary mentioned… the main thing is the overtakes on the hills. Might only be one overtake needed but it can make a massive difference to the next couple of miles of alpine pass

Autobahn thing is overplayed and if you’re with a group,who regularly drive together not an issue

That’s what most of this trip felt like keeping up with the big boys on those passes!

It would be great Matt, just try and make sure you come out of the bends not too far off cam .. Genuinley it would make a great car for this kind of trip , if maybe somewhat thirsty. Comfy for the touring side and can pick up its heals when you want to give it some.

All this talk though is very dependant on how you drive these kind of roads and what kind of experience you want. A normal drive and any porsche would be great. Attacking each hill like a trackday / hill climb is a very different thing .. although you mountain bike too Matt so I'd imagine that downnhilling buzz is what youd also be after in the car on the twisties

I'd duck out of lengthy autobahn anyway, but I fancy the rest of it!

Sounds great! I’d defo be up for both the uphills and the downhills!

The autobahn was generally just for getting there. After that it was almost all on smaller twistier roads.

Indeed, but the little 4 pot starts to build oil temp on the motorway cruising above 80mph...

Put that "long fifth" in perspective: my elderly BMW 430D 90mph @ 2000RPM in top gear.

Truly epic read, amazing pictures and a trip of a lifetime. Serious number of brave pills or beer must have been consumed and kudos to everyone
