now the festivities are out of the way work has progressed further and I hope I could be into the paintshop within the next month

on the basis I think I might do the odd road rally or "spirited drive" in this car and I am unlikely to use the backseats, I spec'd a basic cage. The RSR rep has a full monte Tuthill tarmac rally spec cage which gives fantastic stiffness and safety but would be overkill

so went with a std custom cages job, I will retain normal seat belts hence the threaded bosses visible on the B pillar section.

Really liking this, yours and Sladeys has really made me want a 'daily driver' early 911. Just a really well set up car to enjoy day to day...

Interesting: My FIA 6 point cage misses the stock lap/cross belt B pillar locations so my hillclimb/road car has a normal road belt and a 4 point for the driver.

some more progress to report...

for me one of the nice things about a proper project is the ability to build in cool stuff and I like to take advantage of modern technology where I feel it adds something and detracts nothing.

as we know, our 911s are not really aircooled at all but oil cooled...so I think improving oil cooling capability is a total no brainer. Its like having a Rolex and never going 50m underwater... you might not need the capability but its nice to know you have it. The cooler is a case in point...the only thing I care about is how well it works, not whether its period correct! the oil lines routing is simply a personal touch (executed by SVP) as I have never liked the aesthetics of that down the sill pipe run





I will of course ultimately choose the colour I fancy BUT i am interested in opinions...the car was sepia ex factory and its not going back to that....what colour would you paint a hotrod for road use that you want to look cool, discreet but stylish, and not attract too much attention or make the opposite sex think "nobber" ??

slate / land rover keswick green / aubergine are probably my top 3 candidates so far

I guess Ferrari Red is not on the cards

How about a period colour but with the addition of modern metallics or additives such as "flip" to give the finish a modern twist.

Hi Dan I had a tour round your car on Friday with Dom. It really looks nice and I love the hidden oil lines, it's shaping up nice.

Was the abergine car in SVP an influence in your list of colours, it is a beauty.

My SC is in SVP and nearing completion, can't wait to get my hands on it to put a smile back to driving again.

I'm totally behind your statement about taking advantage of modern technology where it is sensible to do so.

Looking forward to seeing more of yours in the future.

Tremendous project Dan, with some fine personal touches.
Would look good in Irish green.

A light coffee exterior with a deeper coffee interior.
Or something discreet like Fraise
