Re: Oil advice and recommendations here
Ah now, I'm a snob because I'll only use Porsche oil filters. Oil? For the most part, clean oil of the 'wrongish' spec is much better than dirty oil of the 'right' spec. I used to use Mobil 1 because it was relatively cheap in Costco. Nowadays I'm using Liqui Moly.

no ideaNine One One wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 2:22 pmSo basically it is just a normal mineral oil, produced by?? with their own oil additive added to it presumably at the 10% ratio they suggest in their blurb..........so just buy the additive..............which is on the link to the one you posted above?Dean.s wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 1:54 pm https://www.classic-oil.com/en/products ... 9856913790
This one is German and called Wagner Classic 20w50. They've confirmed the zddp content is 1200. not a bad price either.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to view it in english, if it isn't already.
Universally useable wear protection additive without solids
WAGNER Classic Oil Additive - Wear protection & friction reduction for engine, gearbox, differential
This oil additive is free of solid fertilisers. In contrast to conventional oil additives, it chemically combines with the molecules of metal surfaces and forms a microscopically fine reaction layer (protective shield), which prevents welding on the rubbing metal parts. A continuous and comprehensive smoothing of the surfaces is the result. This smoothing results in exceptional emergency running properties and a significant reduction in wear, which is only surpassed by our Micro Ceramic.
This means
More engine power is added to the drive wheels because less power is converted into heat. For the same reason, the (oil) temperatures in the engine drop.
Fuel consumption with the same power output is significantly reduced.
The exhaust gas values improve significantly.
The engine runs quieter and less vibration
The cold start behaviour of the engine improves.
The service life of the mechanic is significantly increased
Range of application
The WAGNER Classic Oil Additive can be added to any commercially available mineral, semi- and fully synthetic engine and transmission oil and is suitable for turbo and catalytic converters.
Wagner Classic Oil Additive is particularly suitable for engines with white or non-ferrous metal main bearings.
Areas of application:
Petrol, diesel and gas engines
Manual transmissions
Differentials
Industrial machines
Hydraulic systems
Wet clutches in motorcycles, agricultural and construction machinery
WAGNER Classic Oil Additive exceeds the following specifications in connection with base engine oils
API
CF-4/SHPD/SJ
ACEA A 3, B3
Measuring out
Replace 10% of the oil quantity with WAGNER Classic Oil Additive.
Please note: Each engine consumes oil.
Oil consumption supplement: 90% engine oil + 10% additive
Article numbers/ container sizes:
010500 - 500ml
010001 - 1L

I've had a reply from porsche in reading. Porsche do not reveal the contents of their oil to anyone not even the dealers. It's their secret. So no-one will know the make up of it.

Buy a litre and send it to Millers (or whoever) for spectroscopic analysis, then you'll know! Would be interesting sending a sample of that Liqui Moly 10W60 in at the same time...

I've had what i believe is the final email reply. It is from Castrol themselves.
They don't retail gtx classic in britain. The classic xl is there go to oil here.
Classic XL 20W-50
Calcium 0.172 % wt
Zinc 0.078 % wt
Phosphorus 0.069 % wt
Classic XL 20w-50 contain Magnesium
The above is taken from the email. Meaning the zinc ppm is a lowly 780!! heritage sell this!!
