She starts, sounds great without the air box on. New fuel and a new battery did the trick.

Forgot how gorgeous she is

Went for a drive.

Finally got around to dropping the engine. Bit daunting on my lonesome for the first attempt, but easy does it....

Really satisfying isn't it? I felt like I'd crossed a barrier in working on my car the first time I dropped the engine and box

It was actually. I didn't set out to drop it today, just got carried away and managed to find an old jack that I knew was in good working order, so went for it!

I bet putting it back isn't so easy!!

It's no harder than dropping it really - just jack it up a bit at a time and keep checking for trapped wires etc

I had a trolley under the gearbox end

I find the drive shafts are the most irritating part of the whole undoing/doing back-up process esp as mine is the sport 3.2 915 box with side oil cooler just to make space that much tighter.

Engine hoist and a trolley jack for the box end and slowly you catch your monkey.

Changed the ecu for a known good one on my 73T/3.2 and the roughness is still there.
Getting far worse now, so easier to see what changes, and at 3100 with 'max roughness apparent' press the clutch down, box in neutral and the harness instantly disapears, lift the pedal and it is instantly back, repeatably.

Lost the OS headlight now.

Have 10 volts to the low beam, have perfect earth to battery, bulb works when tried across the battery direct and all circuits bell through on my AVO, but no headlamp, low or main beam.
Other side fine.

I wouldnt worry .. I'm going through a 'hate' stage at the moment too, car is border line getting put on the market and being replaced by a nice cottage in the middle of nowhere where I can drink real ale in front of an open fire

anyway , fitted my freshly rebuilt pedal assy ... PITA job really but all back in and everything down there now feels great

Just need to re adjust the clutch then sort out my new rough running with one bank being way out with the other ( in scotland found out part of the main throttle crosslink was loose / had play where the end is bolted on , nipped all this tight again but didnt drive it as it was going on the back of a wagon, seems this has now put all the linkages out of balance) .. also discovered now the pedal assy is rebuilt and the engine & box are all back in I'm only getting 3/4 throttle
