Thanks to JohnM for his most excellent stamping.

Whilst the Porsche is on holiday I’ve taken a few days off to rebuild the garage and make it possible to put everything* away.
Plan is for the unit below to have doors (from our kitchen!), workbench under the raised area and amp/speakers in the unit above.
Cupboard on the left is for ‘long things’, tubes etc
Compressor cupboard will be lined to take the edge off the noise.

*tool box and welder remain mobile!

215 amps, 0.8 wire, burns back a bit and occasionally knocks out the power to the house, but otherwise all good

I think your metalworking is much better that your woodworking skills
BTW, I have a GCSE in Woodworking and a degree in Engineering so I know what I am talking about

I was considering a career in cabinet making after this work of art, maybe I’ll stick to cars

I can measure a squllion times and still cock up cutting wood. Much prefer metal - you can either grind a bit more off or weld a bit back on and nobody will know

This first pic from Barry shows the end result of combining skill and controlled violence to make the new (964) door and the original wing line up and align the new (OE) outer sill. He’s moved the door forward about 5mm.



I don’t have a ‘before’ picture, but needless to say this side of the car was a mess, you could get your finger in the gap to the wing at the top.

Great workmanship ! I think its a great feeling when you see your gaps looking good !

Savour these moments Gary, once all is done and you've been driving around for a few years in the green goddess you'll be amazed at fondly you remember these times

Whilst I'm still doing bad woodwork Barry has been hard at work.
RHS is now dry built door/wing/sill/kidney positions nailed:


Seat pan half removed to enable repair to the tube end and reconstruction:


Hand made inner rail repair panel with feature to mount the ARB bracket. You can also see the repairs to the tube in this shot.
