John,
Thanks for the info about the temperature spec of the hydraulic hose I need to check this carefully.
I think we must be talking about different threads. The closest fit on my thread pitch gauge was 1.0mm and it is 24mm diameter so I think it is somewhere around there. I am talking about the flexible pipe that goes from the back of the filter console in the rear wheel arch to the pipe on the engine.
Thanks
Neil

Oil Pipe
Hi
My car is a 1970 so it has a different type of oil tank to 1972 (I think) but i would be suprised if the size of the pipe was any differant, i know for sure that the fitting that goes into the nearside crank case, is 26mm 1.5mm pitch for all the cars i have worked on. Remember to measure to the outside of the threaded part of the fitting as these are O/D measurements.
Regards

As I recall, I took another pipe to Pirtek which had a nut that fitted my tank, they matched a 'male' fitting to the part and then supplied me with the correct 'female' (nut). i still have the pipe kicking about in the garage somewhere as I opted to save it, cos i was not sure what it fitted at the timeFMAN wrote:Stu,
I think we are not quite talking about the same pipe. On my 72 the pipe goes from the pipe you describe on the engine up to the back of the oil filter console in the rear wheel arch. The flexible bit is about 18 inches from memory but hopefully the fitting are the same.
I have been talking to Pirtec but their local expert is on holiday this week. Does your pipe have a Pirtec label on it? If so could you copy the details for me, I believe this identifies the fittings.
Thanks
Neil
Will dig it out and call at my local Pirtek again if it would help
regards
Stu
