69 911 E Targa

Hi everyone, I found this 69 Targa 911 E, it seems to be really good, but it has several changes and I'm guessing if I should buy it or not... any advice and flaws of the 911 would be apriciated...

The car became a bit resto, with a 3.0 lts and 915 tranny(not sure, but it sounds stupid to swap a 3.0 without the tranny) the suspension it is okay, but in this matter I have some questions with the Hydropneumatic struts(how hard it is that, some ppl say that it is recommended to change it for billsteins), the brakes need some work to be perfect but they are fine, the interior as you see it is from a 79

So I would have to keep the car a bit resto... but it is nice overall I think, and the best is the asking price of 12,000 dls... It's not that cheap but I find a car like this on e bay and retails about 8 k + 50% of the price of taxes so I think it's fair...

that car has hydro pneumatic struts?? they would almost certainly be knackered by now I would have thought unless he found some NOS inserts, would recommend switching to bilsteins.

Re the interior the only thing you really need to switch is the tombstone seats to recaro buckets.

Hello, Jasam.

Targas rust to bits very quickly as they flex and leak.

This car looks as though it may need a lot of owrk..the only reasonably sound advice is to get a really reliable experinced Perpurchase inspection and value..

Where is it?

Agree with last post. Unless you know precisely where to look at the body of a targa for rust, DO NOT buy it unless you have had it looked at by somebody who definately knows what they are doing.

It looks like it is in a hot state in the US, but beware, it snows in the mountains in California (salt), no guarantee that it is rust free

These cars come up alot for sale, don't fall in love with it

I closed the doors, perfect; the engine lid, perfect; trunk, perfect; the lines seem to be good, I chequed the front of the trnuk and there is some rust, check the youtube vid. Beside that, I checked the body and it shows no bubbles and the paint isn't recent, so it should show some rust, I'm using the Used 911 Story book, to check and get advices of where should I look, but still if someone could help me giving some damage point, or where did you checked when you bought your targa, that would be awesome...

Mechanically I'll take it to the porsche dealer(A friend of mine is the owner, so that's not a problem).

Hope to get any advices, I really want a targa now hahaha (I Blame Alan with that work

)
