Post by Jon Kent »

Looking at an apparrent 73 2.7 motor with engine number 6440205.
Looks tidy but with no guarantee. Any ideas ?

Hi Jon,

Unless its a RS motor it will not be a 73 model 2.7. Can you check the engine number and also the engine type code? I am not sure that 644 *** is an engine number Porsche used. Codes with the first 3 digits 634 *** and 645 *** are 2.7 motors.

It could be a 1974 2.7 Carrera (mfi) built in the latter part of 1973.

In this case, the engine number would start with 664
