hey stuby thanks for the offer - as im with aon i have to use autoglass who are coming round on tuesday to fit the new screen after the bodywork/lower sreen has been done. Do you think its easy to take the old one out myself as its bonded?

Ive got new clips and and new lower seal but ive only ever taken out old style screens with the separate rubber all round?

Not too bad to take out if you are handy with the tools - remove all the adjacent trim, (inner ones as well to be on the safe side) and then use one of the following methods of removal -
1. Cold knife/ stanley knife - we have the 'Olfa' knives which are extendable and take 18mm blades - don't use segmented (break off type blades) though - very unpredictable !!!!

2. 'Kent' tool - this is a 90 degree blade the is inserted through the adhesive on the outside and pulled along, cutting through the adhesive. If you've never used one before, they are a hard tecnique to master.

3. 'Cheese wire' - a simple method. insert a cheese wire - we use braided as it cuts better and literally cut with a sawing action all way round. If the adhesive is not too thick, it is possible to 'draw' the wire through - like cutting cheese.

luckily didnt need your last option! managed to use the stanley knife/kitchen bread knife and some brute force. The trim was a bit fiddly to get off without damaging, i found the best way was to use a paint scraper slid under the outer part of the trim and gently levered. The rust didnt look too bad - i dont thinnk theres any holes, just a bit of pitting.

hopefully the autoglass guy should have an easy job putting the new one in - Ive done half the job!
