Does anyone know what this wire is / where it goes?
It is the brown one with electicians tape over its end. It has a female spade on the end. The black & brown (also seen on the photo) are from the + & - on my washer bottle pump.

It's hard to see if it is even Porsche. That black spiral band is also not Porsche. Have you checked a wiring diagram?

its coming from the loom that runs from one headlight to the other. I'll have a check of a wiring diagram. There doesn't seem to be anywhere this wire could connect to.
Am I right that generally brown wires are earths?

Original Porsche wiring has brown as earth.
What you have is probably not original wiring, so might be anything..

That rap in black is Electrical wrap for most jobs of tidyin up wire so I wouldn't be too worried about that.
Brown is normaly Earth Test it see if it is?

Its an earth wire and should have an 8mm ring terminal on it. It attaches to the M8 stud that the battery earth attaches to

so with my electics turned on, if if put my voltmeter on one end of the wire & the other end to a ground, it should read 12V?
