Thanks James. I wondered if it was for the hard line, although the clip close to it also seems a likely suspect as well hence me searching for clarification.
I know there were two lines on some cars (not mine), and so far I've had one vote for each.

So just so I'm clear, the rubber fuel hose comes from the filter and joins onto the hard line that emerges out of the chassis conduit shown in my photo?
