Hi Guys
Has any one tried stripping down the ignition tumbler to match a different key? I have no key for the ignition but a key that fits the doors. It's easy to fiddle the door locks but the ignition barrel, that I've removed from the steering lock, looks more of a sealed unit.
Many thanks
Richard

Re: Ignition key matching
It can usually be done. Most ignition barrels aren’t truly sealed they’re just crimped together. If you can get the core out, you can rearrange the wafers to match your door key (as long as it’s the same key type). Just watch the tiny springs when you open it up.
If it’s staked and won’t come apart cleanly, a locksmith can usually match it pretty easily.
