What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Yes I have similar but the wind always seems to have a knack of changing direction as the last drops of oil are draining out, directing it over my arm or on the ground…

Fixed my window regulator and changed all the door seals and felt. Learned a lot. Kept my humour and will be quicker on passenger side!

Not sure of the official fix but happy enough. Don’t look too hard at welding, it has been a while

All fixed in time for Scramble which was ace!

Just back from a day out in the 987.2 Boxster, about 180 miles into Wales on this fabulous sunny warm day.

At times it is good to be retired and have the freedom to just go!

A run up to the reservoirs that water Birmingham but took a long route to miss Ludlow, what a great road with few potholes to dart around so could enjoy the panoramic views.

Very very little traffic, no motorhomes (moving) and some really nice motorbikes about, just what we needed today.
Car ran perfectly and 36 mpg of course on E10 now used for over 3 years.

Might be a bit boring this thread, but I think it may interest a few.
Back from a solid successful hillclimb meeting so feeling 'mechanical' today, time to fit my new rear brakes to the Boxster, and just in time too.

No lights on the dash but a chance look at the pads a few weeks ago looked like the pads were very close to finished, and so it proved.

Ahead, bought a rear brake kit from Design911, Brembo no less so I had everything to hand.

One side at a time, it all unscrewed with no issues, not bad for 86K miles and kept outside all year round. The handbrake needed easing off to get the discs off, so the 9 clicks it was set to was kept as the reference once the new discs were on.

Nice easy job so a good £150 saving in labour (I'm very very cheap though the wife does not agree...).

Will run the car round for 20 miles or so to be sure it is all OK this sunny afternoon.

Do you normally change the abs sensor by default? I've often found them to be a pain to get off and on (from rust). Those pads are tiny. Almost like the 914

No, just change the pad thickness sensor which comes with the kit and each pad has a sensor that clicks onto the steel backing plate.
ABS sensor is undisturbed, but looks very 'mated' to the alum hub...

If you think the pads are small they are 2 x the area of the 73 M type calliper used on the 911's rear.

Job took a lazy 2.5 hours, no rush, all went well with zero issues.
Rare for me...

Werrington hillclimb both Saturday and Sunday, following a four-hour session on the rolling road on Friday. As suspected, engine was over-fuelling, especially under load at lower rpm. With that addressed, headed for Werrington, a lovely hill near Launceston in Cornwall, about 35 minutes from home. I was a bit rusty to begin with, a lazy 50-second run followed by a messy '49' and a '48'. Then it all came together for the last run where I managed to knock two whole seconds off my previous PB with a 46.95 run. I kept being asked where the two seconds came from and it was largely down to the advice from Adrian Crawford who was there in his 911 rally car and shifting into fourth in a couple of sections – the car was definitely quicker than before and it was hitting the rev limiter in third. Was it a fluke? Sunday would tell... The next day, I started with 49s and 48s and then on the very last run of the weekend hit a new PB of 46.71! So new PBs on both days. Now to repeat the process at Wiscombe...

It does explain why you were so quick though, you won’t have seen the slippery bits and Cornish hedges coming at you from all sorts of odd angles ………
A certain Porsche-owning MX5 driver did happen to notice that you beat him by 0.02 seconds…….

John (a DDK'r) and I drove over to the PCGB head quarters in my 911 today for an 'Early 911' tech morning with MCE and then on to a local restaurant for a light lunch.
Great morning, Mike was very informative and interesting and dealt with a lot of questions too.

Pity there were only about 8 911's there, but all nice and above all, colourful.

Traffic very light and potholes few!

The 911 started and drove very nicely (imho) and clearly free of it's recent troubles.
