Exhaust advice

I'm going to backdate the exhaust on my SC and the first thought was a pair of SSIs and a 2in 2out silencer RSR type, Dansk maybe.
However TTexhaust do bespoke ones which are claimed to provide more power and I wondered if anyone has any experience of this company

I run a stainless dual outlet TT one - in fact it was the first one he ever built and used my car to put the early 911 jig together.

It's quite loud but has laster amazingly well. Can't comment on more power but he does make very well built exhausts

I had a TTexhaust on my RS replica (the one pictured on the TTExhaust web page).
It was ordered when I was living in the Philippines and collected when i returned to the UK.
The new exhaust replaced an overly loud 'silencer' (107dB!) and produced a much more muted sound with no loss of performance
Highly recommended!

I went to turbo Thomas's shop when sorting out the system for my Lola race car. His work all those years ago was really nice and he was very helpful indeed, that was about 14 years ago, he must be a master by now.
I was going to use his 914 system but made my own in the end.

Recent years i have found the two open pipes on my 3.2 engined 911 T too much for many to tolerate, far to many heads turning without smiles unless at a car event then it is all smiles.

You need to be around 95 dBa to avoid this if you want to.
I'm sure TT knows exactly all there is to know to tune the noise levels.

From what I've read and personal experience, most of the performance comes from the earlier style heat exchangers (SSI or genuine early) while most of the noise comes from the silencer (or lack of). If you don't want it too loud, I'd say go for SSIs and a 2 in one out system. The silencer part can easily be swapped out and indeed they are frequently for sale here or IB forum so you could play with tuning the volume to your taste and pass on what you don't like.....

I’ve got SSIs with a GT3 style back box from TT. Makes a lovely noise, isn’t boomy and is nice quality. Recommended

Peter, does your silencer exit pipes come out under the overriders? RSR style?

They come out like a standard exhaust, under the outer corner of the car, but with one both sides of the car.

In a couple of months we will launch our AC and heat solution based on a heat pump. This will get rid of the need for exhaust based heat exchangers - run whatever headers you want! A whole load of weight removed from the back of the car. Even heat - not dependent on engine speed and no more smells!

Really? Good on you! Loud pipes save lives.
I could tolerate it for about an hour then had to revert to the ear defenders.

I’m pretty sure that Rich at TT has jigs and structures to make silencers with range of out pipes to suit tastes. Worth a call to discuss
