My Mechanics YouTube Channel - And…. Breathe…..
I just wanted to share this channel with you - some of you will not doubt wonder what is wrong with my mental state that I like watching these videos but I’m pretty sure some of you will totally get it.
The guy who runs the channel possesses incredible skills in many areas of restoration. I think he’s Swiss - he doesn’t speak on the main channel. Over the last few years he’s done restorations of knackered old/antique stuff - weighing scales, a child’s scooter, a desk lamp.
The level of detail he goes into on these restorations is amazing - scanning and reprinting labels, remanufacturing screws that have corroded etc. He films them beautifully as well. Over the last few years I’ve watched all his restoration videos - I find them hypnotic and very calming.
Here are links to some of his smaller projects:-
Desk lamp

Antique headphones

Metal Shear
https://youtube.com/watch?v=6hVeWufC4E0&feature=share
But the reason I’m mentioning him here and now is that he’s just started restoring a Datsun 240 - the first episode is just him stripping down the whole car - but I even found that therapeutic to watch.

Once you’ve seen the level of detail he goes into on those smaller items I’m looking forward to see how far he goes with the restoration and re manufacture of smaller pieces.
Anyway as I said, not for everyone, but I’m sure some of you will love it
Thanks for listening/reading
Mark

Excellent videos! He also has a second channel. The recent Datsun ones are more explanatory: https://www.youtube.com/@mymechanicsinsights/videos
A similarly therapeutic channel for those interested in watch restorations is Red Dead Restoration: https://youtu.be/xm8POMFeudM

Great stuff!
I watch a lot of these 'restoration' videos from several sources, particularly like the rebuilds of tin plate toys that have come out of river beds and worse.
Great skills to resurrect them.

Yes the lamp is pretty amazing - can’t wait to see what he does with the car.
I like the fact that it’s silent too (his second channel isn’t) as I can watch it while sat in bed with the missus with the sound off.
