Windscreen heater wires - repair / overhaul

Post by RobFrost »

Rear windscreen out - I've little idea whether the rear windscreen demister works partially or even at all but the wires appear to be in a complete state. Probably the original one of 50 years. Is there hope to salvage this, or is it just a case if scrub it all off and start over? Anyone with experience? Can you get new wires? Or better just to get new glass?

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Very doubtful these would work.

You can (used to be able to) buy electrical paint to repair the tracks. I had limited success in the 80´s
'79 Targa - restoration now mainly complete & being driven

My car had repairs conducted in the electroconductive paint but it didn’t work. I bought a new screen from Porsche.

Good point. I never look out of the back window anyway. I already know all the other drivers are rapidly disappearing out of view.

Perhaps some of the conductors might be OK/work - I think they are all connected in parallel, in two sets I think.
