Re: Pre-73 parts clear out.
If you want some technical input I would caution (as a 40 year + vehicle safety engineer) against using old stock seat belt webbing to remake a part that is there to save your life. Is it really worth authenticity to use something that has been through a lot of use, I presume mostly unknown? Also how confident would you be that the person sewing this onto your ancient hardware knows the correct specification of thread, stitch length etc. I'm ( very slowly ) renovating a 914 and one of the first things I had done was a complete new seatbelt set manufactured, using all new parts including hardware, probably with better specification than original, just matching retractor installation angles and webbing type / length.
Frankly the crash protection on any Porsche pre 964 is -how can I put it without ramifications- perhaps not even state of the art for its day, so don't compromise it any further.

Re: Pre-73 parts clear out.
I have offered up the webbing as there is some New old stock lengths that are un-used and therefore have not suffered from abrasion, sunlight or any wear. Therefore it will be at the same tensile strength as when it was made. I know this from a technical point of view as i undertake pull tests on old, new old stock and modern webbings to compare there break strengths
Out of interest, Are you using all new bolts on your 914. What about your calipers ? Are you using any 50 year old parts on your 914. Just wondering.

Re: Pre-73 parts clear out.
Great to hear that and especially if you are doing tensiles then yes I'd be happy to use such materials.
Of course I'm using 50 year old parts on my 914 but I've had all the calipers fully rebuilt and I will replace bolts on suspension for instance wherever I can. However I still think parts specifically designed to protect the occupant in a crash such as seat belts, the seats (and their fixings) and airbags (where originally fitted), which are designed to be 'used in anger' just once have to be treated differently to other systems engineered for constant every day loadings, in which deterioration can generally be seen and remedial action taken.

Re: Pre-73 parts clear out.
Having looked at the upper anchorage on a 911 the webbing is the strongest element of the system
