I have been cleaning under the bum of my 73 MFI following engine drop, and currently disassembling the fuel pump (rear-mounted, behind rear left seat) and pipes to clean behind them. Luckily, almost all of the original underseal is still in great condition and will get a nice coat of Bilt Hamber Dynax UB wax after I've cleaned up and repaired any small bits...
I plan on replacing all the clip-on fuel hose sections, but need advice for the crimped-on hose sections please.
The two short crimped-on hard pipe sections (just under the fuel filter console) are a bit cruddy but perfectly reusable. Same for the crimped on 3-way fuel (return?) hose with the T connection.... I would ideally like to put nice shiny new crimped versions back on the car as per the originals, but they are insanely expensive or NLA.
Any suggestions for reasonably-priced replacements for the crimped sections?
Is it wise to do away with the crimped sections, or even bypass the short hard pipes, and just use normal hose and T pieces with jubilee clips?
Also, has anyone found a reasonably priced UK supplier of 7 x 12 (ID/OD) and 9 x 15 cloth braided hose and the various diameters of clear fuel tank breather hoses?
Would be grateful for any recommendations or advice on this!
Interestingly, there is an inline fuel filter in the return line....
