17.5mm Anti Roll bar

Has anybody retrofitted a 17.5mm ARB to their car ?

Do you feel it's an improvement over stock ?

Mike,

You really notice it on High Speed Bends - the car will feel much more stable and give you confidence

Make sure it comes with Harder Busings - PRS (of course) sell it as a kit with the bushings


To get the best out of it, you also need to consider Harder Rear Torsion Bar Bushings and, of course, make sure you have good shocks

Yes, and Yes! It has reduced/eliminated the feeling of 'toppling' onto the outside front wheel in a fast corner, and has enabled the car to ride potholes (very popular round here) in a much less unpleasant way, i assume by not dropping the wheel so much/quickly. An improvement without touching the rear end. Recommended, as are PRS from whom i bought it, for a very reasonable price.....W

Thankyou Mike, It was the PRS bar I was looking at although I don't really take bends at high speeds... there's generally a massive tractor or a bl00dy cyclist round every bend round here, so perhaps not necessary for me.

I was hoping it would improve handling at slightly lower speeds ?

It's been a while since I made any sort of modification to my car but the devil finds work for idle hands.

Also interesting was a comment recently, sorry I can't remember who made it, that after running new Konis for a while while, he tightened them up a notch. You have yours up three notches, with soft tyres, So It'll be interesting to play around and see how the car changes with different settings.

The Best improvements that you can make to your 356/911 is to :-

Make everyting work, the way that it was intended

Not that my own car is that way - I am the plumber that cannot find the time to fix his own leaking tap

Wise words Mike, to modify something is to disagree with the original designer. Mr Porsche was a cleverer chap the I am, although he was working with cross ply tyres. We have better tyres than he had, and more choice. I like my car at the moment, but will try some of Dougal's Pirellis next time, and it will be interesting to see if the car is happier back on its std arb. Most 356s that get modified, suffer at the hands of someone who doesn't like the look of the standard car, followed by those who crave more power, and hence more stopping and cornering ability. I fancy a but more urge, and I feel my brakes could be better within the standard design, but I am not interested in fashion 'stance'. I like what Mr P chose..... Keep us posted Mycar....Good luck, W
