Anyone know what this fire extinguisher is?

Post by Ian Gunney »

All - any chance anyone could tell me what the fire extinguisher is here (pictured with the tool-kit)?

Ian - if you mean the slim red cylinder in the picture with the tool kit, it's not a fire extinguisher but a compressed air 'bottle' for inflating the spacesaver spare tyre.

It was also std fitment on 2.7RS models up to Jan '73.

Andy, is Ian may be referring to the red tanks in the rear passenger area, one mounted behind the drivers seat and another one up near the rear screen? Looks like it could be some sort of fire suppression system.

I think it’s one of these which I just found tucked away on a high shelf in my workshop. It came out of a 935 I was restoring a few years back. It couldn’t be used anymore as Halon was banned by then. Cheers

As Andy Lightweight has already pointed out, it's the compressed air bottle for the spacesaver.

Chaps - awesome as ever - it is the compressed air canister that I was looking at (it would also make sense given the fitment...)

Cheers
