wear on discs

is there a recomended minimum thickness that discs can be measured for, my 75 2.7 Carrera has vented fronts and solid rears

I have no idea about the age of my discs, they have light scoring on them, the usual rusty inner section and rusty edges and a bit of a lip on the edges

Bert at berlyn has quoted me £23 +VAT for the fronts each and £34 + VAT for the rears

is it beter to buy new or try and have the old ones skimmed ??

The wear limit for both front & rear disc is 18mm - this is assuming that wear occurs evenly on both faces.

Original disc thickness is 20mm


Personally, since new discs are readily available at reasonable cost, I prefer to fit new ones.

provided they work well with no juddering I'd leave well alone.

And would agree that a change is more economic sense that getting them skimmed..unless your racing and can get it done on the car..by a good machine and man..

I checked the discs last night, rears are down to 18mm, so they get binned, fronts are pretty much 20mm so i guess probably newer ones

might just treat myself to new ones front and back, at least it'll look smarter than half and halfthanks again
