Roof felt?

Post by Bob_Salmon »

Just removed the bitumen type sound deadening panels from the floor. Can anyone tell me what the correct name for this material and is it Porsche specific or obtainable as a generic product?

Also, when I replace it, is it glued into place or 'pursuaded' to drape into the recesses with a heat gun?

Thanks!

Bob

Hi Bob, you can certainly get it from the bodyshop suppliers, my last pack actually came form the local accessory shop.

You're right, they have a peel-off backing, peel it off, warm it, and the metal a bit, and just tease it into place.

The only thing I'm not sure of is how bigger size you can buy: obviously you can just butt then against each other anyway if required.

Thanks Barry. The pieces I removed were not all that large so I guess it is normal to work a small section at a time. I will sound out (no pun intended) the local bodyshop. Must have been having a 'senior moment' not to have thought of that first!

Regards,

Bob
