Christmas greetings from the Land of the Summer People!
This was the view from our orchard on 29th August this year - and the balloon didn't land, it fired up and landed elsewhere!
This was the view from a similar position this afternoon. The shiny thing in the water between the two bushes is the top rail of a 5-bar gate across a raised drove crossing the moor. Yesterday only the bottom two rails were covered.
Luckily our bungalow is built in the old part of the village, which was an island in the marshes when King Alfred was absent-mindedly burning the cakes half a mile away on the next island, Athelney.
We always fancied a lake-side villa ..............
