Re: Nepal orange ?
Gulf, Signal, Blood and Tangerine were around at various points pre 74.
I think Nepal was only a 914 colour.

Nepal Orange was introduced for 1975 model year and used until end of 1976 MY - 914s only, I believe, although I guess you could have special-ordered it on a 911.
Re: Nepal orange ?
Sorry for the thread hijack - so when was gulf orange introduced? I’d never heard of it until I bought a 70 T in that colour last month. Originally signal orange the gulf orange is darker but brighter if that makes sense. Pictures and a thread are imminent !
Thanks

Gulf Orange - 1972-on from what I can see.
Re: Nepal orange ?
Keith,
Thanks for the info. I had wondered why anyone would change a car from signal to gulf orange. Different strokes and all that!!
Cheers

Re: Nepal orange ?
Gulf orange is a bit lighter than signal orange innit? Signal yellow is actually quite orangey, which I find confusing.

Re: Nepal orange ?
Hmm,
Signal orange is the lightest. Gulf is almost as dark as tangerine / blood orange but it’s brighter. Hard to explain. I’ll post some photos in due course and I can guarantee that they will be of no help! Unless they are taken by Jamie! The colour changes so much in the light.

Same car different day! It’s gulf orange although the top photo looks very signal orange. The lower pic is what it looks like!

Re: Nepal orange ?
Brian... if you decide against Burgundy, and go instead for an orange...
Blut Orange (Tangerine) would be my vote.
All the (early) orange shades are great, but this one is hard to beat on a 911.
Certainly avoid Signal Orange, for the simple reason that having a viper green 914 and a signal orange 911 would make you and I weird reverse twins![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

In 1991 porsche also offers Nepal orange as a special order color, only for the targa versions and only two years.
