There was some advice from others DDK “avoid a car needing welding”, clearly didn’t listen to that

Now, where’s the kettle
Best start learning to weld Mark

Recent mention of Velocettes reminded that I’d owned quite a few over the years, this one in the seventies.

It was Pinks of Harrow’s production racer and had been lying second in the ‘66 or ‘67 Production TT when the gearchange mech fell to bits. Tom Thorpe was riding it at the time.

Sadly Pinks went bust in the early seventies and I was able to buy this from the liquidators. I even rode it home, or as far as Bibury when the sleeve gear lost some teeth and we had to load it into and estate car for the last fifteen miles. It’d do 110mph on a good day by which time the handling was rather alarming.

Had my first sail for about three years last week
Really enjoyed it and forgotten how much I love sailing on the Broads

It's a Broads One Design (aka Brown Boat) which is one of the very first One Design classes of boat - It's been in the family since 1972 and was the first built, in 1900. None have capsized since
They sail pretty much exclusively at Wroxham, Oulton and off Lowestoft

They are not all brown though

a bit OT, but I'm looking to go back sailing and at my advanced years, a titchy dinghy is no good. How are they single handed? Heavy to get in and out of the water? Looks lovely!

Heavy - there's half a ton of lead at the end of the keel so need a proper trailer or crane to get in/out
Single handed is fine - though class rules prevent some labour saving devices.
