Re: In the Boxster to the Mille Miglia, lots of pictures.
The little 2 seater, number 7 looking lost on a Brescia back street is an Alfa, it it was my very fav car.
The patina was out of this world.
I have several other pics of it, so will post tomorrow, had a very busy day at the Down Hill Wacky Races in Shrewsbury, so knackered.
I have to say, previous visits to the MM have been far better for drama and congestion of killer cars, but it is special.
Gary, it is a long road trip, and not particularly interesting, 600+ Km a day.
Mostly a great special.
M Walker is a very enthusiastic self- promoter, and drove the Brescia streets with door open talking to everyone who would listen.
The Gull Wings are a very special car, I just love then, but that Alfa was something else....
Nice that people have liked the pics.

Got a few, might be the one important to you.
I'll find and post tomorrow.
I Phones are irritatingly slow to react so lost a few pics due to delays in the shutter firing!

Hey... We were standing really close together! The guy with the grey cardigan who's checking his camera is my friend Stijn (from Belgium) and we visited the Mille Miglia together. I remember standing were this picture is taken (just before a lefthand turn). I was standing at the turn and judging from where this picture is taken I was standing directly behind you...

I think that's a 'tribute' car (usually with a Dutch registration) built in Argentina to emulate a 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 Disco Volante 'fianchi stretti' ...mycar wrote:What is this car please ? Is it an AC ?

You never who is behind you!
Amazing co-incidence.
Some more of the Alfa, wherever it was from I loved it.
Sorry Gary just this one of the blowers, blame the operator of the iPhone! :

Looks like it has the correct Argentinean fake patina...Lightweight_911 wrote:I think that's a 'tribute' car (usually with a Dutch registration) built in Argentina to emulate a 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 Disco Volante 'fianchi stretti' ...mycar wrote:What is this car please ? Is it an AC ?

.
It's a great looking car - I was very tempted by a similar Argentinian car a couple of years ago & if I'd thought I could get around the registration process (somehow ) ...

In Holland the license plate is connected to the car and all information about the car can be checked at www.rdw.nl
If you fill in the licence plate number at the yellow box at the bottom of the page 'tik hier' you'll get the following information about this car:
Voertuigcategorie Personenauto (M1)
Carrosserietype Cabriolet (AE)
Inrichting cabriolet
Merk ALFA ROMEO
Type Niet geregistreerd
Kleur Rood
Handelsbenaming 1.9 SPIDER
Plaats chassisnummer Rechts, rechter tegen schutbord onder motorkap
Datum eerste toelating 30-06-1953
Datum tenaamstelling 10-12-2010
Tijdstip tenaamstelling 21:04
Datum eerste afgifte Nederland 20-11-2007
Massa rijklaar 835 kg
Massa ledig voertuig 735 kg
Cilinderinhoud 1997 cm³
Aantal cilinders 4
Aantal assen 2
Aantal wielen 4
Wielbasis 222 cm
https://www.autoweek.nl/kentekencheck/AM-4294/
According to this information it looks to be 'the real deal'. It's very difficult to 'fool' the Dutch RDW...

Re: In the Boxster to the Mille Miglia, lots of pictures.
Antoine - I'm not 100% certain of my suggestion that it's a 'tribute' car but the original cars were all RHD.
The well-known Argentinian restorer, Nestor Salerno, has built a number of similar cars (see ASA C52 on their website) typically using parts (including chassis, engine, etc) from a '50's Alfa 1900 saloon.
I'm fairly sure the car photographed was (& may still be) owned by Paul Koot who - amoung other things - used to import/sell the Pursang/Bugattis so would be well-versed in the intricacies of registering such vehicles ...

Re: In the Boxster to the Mille Miglia, lots of pictures.
That could be 'another explaination'
It's known that the RDW can be 'outsmarted' or 'persuaded' to tweak the registration a little bit; especially when the only thing that has changed is the body type (from saloon to cabriolet/Spider) when in the original papers that are with the car not is mentioned what the body type was to begin with...
Furthermore I know of an incident where a 904 replica is built and where the vin of a 914 has been used (incl. the papers that go with that 914) and the RDW made 'the mistake' to register that car as a 904 (typo?) instead of a 914...
And if you look at the registration of my former 986 S (license plate JF-900-J > https://www.autoweek.nl/kentekencheck/JF-900-J/ ) you'll notice that the body type is described as 'coupé'... That mistake was made by the RDW when I imported the car from Germany and they were unwilling to correct this mistake, although I specifically asked them to. I guess I owned the only Porsche Boxster 986S Coupé ever built...
