Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Apologies for the delay in reply Andy. I asked my friend Ed about it and apparently the 250 didn't belong to his father but to a chap called Bernard White and Ed's father was the team mechanic. I've heard a number of stories of Bernard White ( his brother was Gordon White, of Hanson-White / Hanson Trust ) and he actually lived in the next village to where I live now. Other people have told me stories of the incredible cars Bernard White owned, brand new GT40's and similar of the era including the 250LM and a host of others, as well as a number of helicopters ! ( this is in the 1960's) a rather flamboyant character. Gordon White, his brother, has always been one of my business heroes.Lightweight_911 wrote:.
What's the story behind that image Steve ?
I remember Ed's father owning a new Ferrari 400, an impressive thing, but I feel it would be far easier to lose a load of cash by sitting and ripping fifty quid notes up every day !

Yes, 2.3 HSR. My neighbour as a child had a rep and used to do 180 degree turns at the bottom of our road on the throttle. Left a big impression on me!
Love them, though think they are out of financial reach now sadly...

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Remember borrowing one from Vauxhall's press department. Great fun - but not as much fun as Ari Vataanen's highly tuned personal road car, which was black and a real rocketship. Great fun on the A3... Happy days.
