I'm not flashing
I have just noticed that I don't have the headlight flashing facility on my '86 wide body. All the other electrical componentry is working as it should with main and dip beams operating perfectly. Is there a relay for the headlamp flashing operation? I have inspected the wiring diagrams in my Bentley manual and I can't see any but surely there must be one there. Any info on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I'm not flashing
I'd start by checking the contacts in the column switch assembly.

Believe it or not, the only 911’s that have relays in the headlamps are the early short wheelbase models. From 69 all the way to the 993, no relays...
As Keith says, probably the stalk. If you want to save the stalk in future, fit relays or one of our fuse panels which has them built in.

Re: I'm not flashing
Fixed 'em. As his Royal Classic Porscheness, KS did indeed suggest the culprit was the contacts in the switch housing. What happened was after I had cleaned the contacts, they are like little tiny jobbies as in your ignition points, still there was no flash so I dismantled them as far as I could without completely removing them from the steering column, then flushed them with a nice cocktail of Plus Gas and WD40, left them overnight them blew them clean with compressed air, screwed them all back in tight and bingo the headlight flash was back fully functioning. It was just a build up of electrical deposit and general crud on the contacts, plus I finished installing my short shift lever and assembly but I haven't road tested this yet so more on that later.
