993 Turbo exhausts - anyone tried anything new?

Post by rft218 »

Hi All,

Have a hole in one of my back boxes on my 993TT so need to change them. I am normally one for keeping standard but the lad in me thinks a bit more noise might be good :-)

BUT I do drive it up and down the motorway fairly frequently and dont want it start being annoying in term of extra boomy noise.

The most widely available choice is Dansk sports silencers and the sports ones are cheaper than standard.

Any experiences out there on anything other than standard?

Cheers

Not much difference on a turbo between any rear box. The cats make all the difference to sound IMHO.

I changed the exhaust on my 993 Turbo to a Gemballa unit. Hardly made any difference, it is difficult to get any real improvement with the turbos inline. Once these start to move they act almost like a silencer. The best modification in my opinion is to change the cat unit for a sport cell. Improves noise at start up and allows a bit more under load. I also had the silencers hollowed out which helps.
