Best place to buy brake pipes?

In my furkling around under the front I want to replace the brake pipe that goes to the front offside caliper.

Any recommendations on where to buy one? It's an 89 carrera.

Does anyone have a link to a parts catalogue so I can check out that what I have is standard fare?

If it's the solid line, make it yourself as it's easy enough to do

And if you can't do that (it is easy with the simple tool) take the old one to a garage and they will make you one up for the price of the parts and the tool!

OR

Type911 sell one, part number 2083 for £14 plus everything.



This is the tool I've had and used for 30 years, still available today, didn't realise they had become so expensive! (about £33)

I bought my Sykes-Pickavant pipe flaring set about 30 years ago & have made hundreds of hard lines with it - brake, clutch & fuel pipes - & it's still as good as new.

Admittedly it wasn't cheap but it produces perfect single or double flared ends every time.

Incidentally, I always use kunifer for the hard lines rather than copper.

Thanks all for the very helpful thoughts and info. I should be able to do this myself, well of course I can, but haven't got the tools. So time to invest!

So the info I don't know now is about sizes of brake fittings, I assume the porsche ones are metric? And also the brake pipe, metric or imperial?

Then as a supplementary question, looking at the parts diagram (also found one on the actual porsche website), how do you interpret what works for LHD v RHD cars?

The brake line I am looking at goes from the centre T union to the 'inside' of the flexi pipe (rather than the one Graham likned to above which is at the other end of the flexi). There are two parts one with L in the remarks col and one with R. I presume it's the same regardless of LHD or RHD.

Other pipes have LL and RL for example in the remarks column. Does that means LHD - left side, RHD - left side?

All Porsche 911 brake fittings are metric, M10 x 1.0. The pipe is 3/16". The pipes that you want are not drive handed (LHD or RHD), other pipes are.

Graham, I was not sure which one you were after so guessed!

This is why people buy the tool, the parts and the tube, all the lhd/rhd stuff all disappears, make what you need.
