import question can any one help????

Post by porker914 »

I have bought a car which has no import documents with the car as its been passed about a few people and no one seems to have had the documents. Does anyone know what you need to do to enable the car to be UK registered? I dont want to have to pay the import taxes again as at some point they have already been payed?

Any ideas anyone??

You will need :

proof that the relevant C&E duties (VAT) have been paid (Form C&E 386)*
registration document/certificate of title stating year of manufacture**
current MOT
insurance certificate

* C&E will have a copy of this on file - should be traceable from VIN
** if you don't have this, a Letter of Conformity from Porsche Cars GB will be necessary (approx £65 for a single A4 sheet !) but you may have difficulty obtaining one of these as you require a bill of sale from the previous (overseas) owner + foreign registration document !

does the car have a plate with it. You could back step with the relelvent plate but like the DMV in Ca they only hold the details for a short period of time once a car has been permantly shipped overseas.

I'm not sure if PCGB asked me for a sales bill or not but there are ways
