Re: 912 outlaw project
Thanks guys much appreciated
As I say, the feeling is much more on-off (lighter action?), but adding the slave spring certainly gives abit more resistance and snap back. The pedal has additional floor mounts mounting slots so it can be adjusted left/right and front/back as needed...also there are a row of holes on the back strengthening bar to adjust the pedal angle. All resulting in more options to get the "perfect" positioning for heel and Toeing etc.
Cheers Mark...The curved Pedal is best described as a rolling motion as opposed to a pivoting motion...if that makes sense ? 917's had them so must be goodsladey wrote:Brilliant update Chris. And fantastic work. What’s the story with the curved pedal - thinking about getting one but don’t know the reason for the curve - is it meant to be easier heel and Toing

Thanks Ben...I said Skateboard grip tape because thats the first thing that popped into my head, but the stuff I have is indeed stair tread tape, much less sand texture than Deck tape. The kitchen scissors may take a beating cutting it, once I have made the template...but as I said to Mrs Jury, "there is no way I am risking filing the edge of the black anodised pedal"

Actually if you watch a few “grip tape” vids on YouTube you can see running around the edge with something like a socket handle or piece of round bar stock will wear through the abrasive at the edge, allowing you to just cut through the adhesive layer with a razor blade or Stanley knife

Re: 912 outlaw project
New Years day drive...Felt so good to be back behind the wheel.
Idle set higher and Battery charging correctly. Gearbox feels great, as does the improvements made to the fuel delivery. Still afew tweeks needed and might fit a heavier slave spring on new accelerator pedal, but great progress made...

Still not 100% sure I have the correct Dipstick fitted...

Sounds good and pulls strong though...

Thanks James.hot66 wrote:Sounds great ... How many litres of oil have you filled with ? What year tank have you got ? From memory there are 3 different dip sticks
There is currently about 9.5 US quarts in there which equates to about 9 litres.
The problem I have is that everything is abit of a mismatch
Engine is 2.2 with no front Oil cooler...The Oil tank is a later 930 (bigger capacity), but not sure on the exact year. Currently there is no Oil registering at all on the Dipstick and the Oil light is constantly on. The fuel pressure is good at idle and acceleration. Temp is just below 180 when warmed up.
The dipstick is 930.107.731.00 :
Length = 295mm
Max = 203mm
Min = 268
But I think there is a 930.107.731.01 available also (early S info):
Length = 300mm
Max = 213mm
Min = 274
Some, but not a massive difference.
From memory, when I first put Oil in the car in Germany it took about 11 litres before the Oil light went out and it was above the Min mark on the Dipstick. But the concern has always been that the Oil was overfilled. After putting everything back together recently, everyone I have spoken to in the USA have said to put 8 quarts in and then top up accordingly once up to temperature.
My thinking is that the engine will be ok with 9 litres, but the tank is ok with 11 +/- litres. So, so long as I go off what the tank says I should be ok, because everything circulates back to the tank.....I think ?
Cheers
