Hi can anyone with a Pre A tell me what the wiper arc angle is on a clap hands wiper system. I am building a Pre A replica and need to find a wiper box with the same arc.

Angle of wiper arc on pre a clap hands wipers
Re: Angle of wiper arc on pre a clap hands wipers
Good question ! Mine looks like it is less than 90 degrees and more than 60 , hard to tell as with a dry screen they move on the smallest arc , presumably friction affects it . The other thing I noticed is that not synchronised , one blade reaches apex and is on return while the other stlll heading for the top . I have a real bent screen car and the blades do not go past the central crease .HTH

Would have to look at mine when I get a chance, but I would say the arc is close to 90 degrees. From memory the wiper goes to almost vertical and should rest just above the windscreen rubber. When vertical(ish) the wiper isn't as far over as the central crease.

That's great...thanks for the replies. Couple of other things, what is the distance between the centre's of the spindles, and can you confirm they are centrally mounted to the centre of the car? they look it from photos but just want to check.

Width between center of wiper spindles
My '55 has them 17.5" apart. It is a left hand drive car and the left hand spindle measures 8.5" from the center of the car with the right at 9". I don't know if this is random or if they offset them depending on which side is the driver's.
