Have an 993 c2, 986 and 928 GT in the garage.
Bought the shark with manual transmission and 330 BHP last year. No sunroof, pinstripe interior, no rear A/C, ...
In no aspect similar to the characteristics of the two other porsches. But really a blast to drive.
I enjoy every KM on the road ! Be quick to buy because now you get value for money (911 prices are rediculous now).

Phil,

It could be that your white 928GT was first owned by an owner in Pershore called Dave P. IIRC, he picked it up from the factory.
If so, I can forward you his contact details.

Cheers,

My car was delivered in Scotland, Douglas Cameron in Perth

I recently met Scottish Porsche specialist Brian Miller in Edinburgh, he worked at the dealer and recalls my car new being delivered, as they were so rare

Great to find and recall these little nuggets of information

I have owned this Oct 78 car for a short time. Its a very original old beast, had a paint job at some point but the Pasha interior is original (with a fag burn to prove it). Have to say I get regular "too many cars I need to sell one" syndrome and this one is the one that would go first but I keep thinking I would be daft to sell it just yet. Lovely thing and its unique with its single wing mirror, no rubbing strips or sunroof and with the black and white Pasha and tele dials. A real step back to the 70s this one. Handles brilliantly (no body roll in corners at all) and its no slouch once on the move. Prodigious thirst. Oliver Reed levels of thirst.

Very nice all of them :)

Here's a pick of my first 928S taken in 1990 at my first house behind one of my many 944's

Bought it off a builder, he used it to transport sand and cement

Large tub of white emulsion had spilled in the boot making a god awful mess and sticking the carpet to the fuel tank.

As a result it was a very cheap 928 and only 8 years old !

Worked a little magic and it looked like new.

Light blue metallic & full navy leather. I put the compomotive split rims on and kept teledials in that shed :)

I hadn't realised there was such a clandestine 928 'chapter' on DDK, some wonderful cars out there.

Jonno, first dibs on yours if you ever decide to move it on, that is just what I had in mind when I started this thread... 8)

Yep, 2nd dibs Jonno!, a lovely thing that.

Similar to mine, Sept 78, single mirror car - except mine seems to still have her OG rear shocks and springs, and nasty cheap aftermarket front shocks, which would explain the mastercraft-esque handling. All part of the plan though - yours sounds like it handles very nicely - what suspension is it on? Stock or aftermarket?

You're having it serviced at an OPC? Cool.

Yes it went in for an oil service and a health check. Just to keep the file ticking over. And it also helps that they are only 15 mins from me.

Very good service as you would expect and the health check is very thorough. They are very understanding that these are classics and tactful in pointing out what the issues are and they acknowledge that not all of them are things that need addressing immediately. No hard sell at all.

Also willing to work to a budget - so I have been down the list and said ok lets get a, b, c and d done if you can bring it in for £x. Very reasonable conversations can be had as they are keen to get the classic work in the door. Of course it would be cheaper to go to a specialist and I wouldn't necessarily get everything done at an OPC but for this occasion I am happy to and its nice to have the 95,000 mile service stamp in the book as well.

Also hoping to benefit from the new Porsche Classic Register:

I’ve just read the Porsche Classic Register offer Jonno - Thanks for posting. Looks like it’s a very interesting and clever way for Porsche Centres to make new contacts and wrestle back some of the work that naturally goes to the independents.

Well....I've taken the plunge....after seeing some real tat, I now have a 928S 1983 vintage. Plenty of work to do on it. Happy to share, but appreciate it's not a water cooled forum so no issue if it's not the done thing ( though for balance I still have my 914-6 for some proper air cooled tomfoolery). First impressions, it is the complete antethesis to the norm and I can see why they are a bit of a curates egg so to speak, but it is a bit bonkers and I Love it! Anyway, I have done the sensible thing that any new car owner would do, and instantly have started to take it apart...
