993 Tyres

Post by BILLY BEAN »

I have had Continental Sport Contact 255/40 ZR 17 N2 on my 993 C2 for some time and have been happy with their dry and wet grip and progressive break away. The front tyres are very new. The rears now need replacement but I have been advised that Continental have discontinued the tyre and do not have a replacement. ( No apparent stock anywhere in the UK). Continental do have 255/40 17 94Y which has an appropriate speed rating but is not Porsche "approved".
Any tyre experts care to comment?
Thanks Kirk

Kirk - didn't know we had another car in common!
Michelin Pilot Sport 2s on my 993 C2. Contis before that. I slightly prefer the Michelins, but they definitely seem grippier (Contis were therefore sometimes more fun).
BTW I am a huge fan of the Michelin Super Sports that came on my M5. Really impressive performance and they lasted 18000 miles on a 2-ton RWD car with 500+ BHP...
Cheers, Richard.

James and Richard thank you for your replies. Michelin not available until 1st September. Awaiting availability of Bridgestones.

Camskill website states 4days for the N4 Bridgestone & 1 day for N3 Pirelli. PS2 are available in the vanilla spec if that's an option you'd consider.

Bruce, Thanks for the help. Bridgestones sounds like where I am heading.
Pirelli are my least favourite option.
