Red Madras Seat Inserts - My 1975 911S Targa

Post by Tom Davies »

Many of you will probably recall the saga of my trying to get the Red Madras fabric seat inserts made for my 1975 911S Targa.
Well very nearly 3 years after the saga started we now have a massive step forward courtesy of Alan at Canford Classics who is restoring the car for me.
Photo of the front seats waiting to be fitted into the car attached. A brilliant job I am delighted.

Great another one of the same style. There were 3 colours Red Blue and Beige. From my research the blue was the most popular (that is relative, I'll bet there are not many about) followed by the beige and finally the Red. From my research so far mine is the only uk spec car imported with the factory red Madras interior.
I would love to link up to somebody who has the same factory interior. If nothing else to clear up the numbers question.
MY feeling is there must be others out there somewhere.

Hopefully it will not be too long now. The stripped shell is finished and is currently being sprayed, so depending on their work scheduling should be in the Canford workshops to be rebuilt in the next next few weeks. All the ancillary parts/running gear etc have been refurbished or replaced, the gearbox and the engine fully rebuilt.
I have to confess to becoming excited to see the final outcome, as the aim was to return the car to the condition it was in when delivered by AFN to the first owner.
One big regret I have is that the original owner has died, so he won't be able to see it.
