Some time ago we bought engine number EA048620 to use as core for a 2.0 or 2.4 conversion. When stripped it was so nice and original inside we decided to rebuild it as original. So if anyone out there is in need of any early engine:
Rebuilt original 1679cc Type 4 engine for use in early 914 or VW 411 (80bhp)
High compression version with domed pistons/combustion chamber relief
CR raised slightly for modern fuel
Oil surge baffle in sump
New main and big end bearings (std/std/std)
New piston rings
Mild performance cam (should run fine on FI but better with carbs)
New oil cooler
Basic distributor included
Bench tested
