Depends on the car, they supplied many different tyres.
If it's a UK supplied car they were generally Michelin Xs.

Regarding tyre size , depends which 356 you mean.

The 'pre A s' had 16 inch wheels and 5.00-16 tyres

The 1955 model 356As had 4.5j x 15 wheels and 5.60-15 Sport tyres , this tyre size continued the same for later As , Bs , Cs.

When I bought my 356A in the late 60's it was still on Michelin X tyres. I just accepted then they were the tyres to buy. As Hendrik says I suppose others were used like maybe Continental? but every guy I knew with a 356 at that time ran 'X'' tyres.

It doesn't matter if you speak your mind, because those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter.......!
Lusting after a 30/98, will settle for a 23/60.

Hendrik is, of course correct

It was predominantly Michelin and Dunlop but also - Continental - Veith - Engelbert - Metzeler - Pheonix and Fulda

White wall tyres were also supplied if ordered

Hi Dougal. You're very welcome on DDK and your knowledge of tyres will (I am sure) be a great help to our members.

Best to be upfront though rather than adopting a clandestine strategy.

DDK users are a smart bunch (not sartorially (present company excluded)) and you'll get a much better reception if you introduce yourself and mention where you are from.

Of course if you do want to advertise Longstone to the membership you can ask me (as outlined in my previous email to you when you registered on the forum) about our traders package.
