Wing Mirror Glass

Post by SiJ »

Does anyone know of where to get / or has a spare wing mirror glass?

Some b@st@rd has pinged mine in the Waitrose car park...... AAAAARRGH!

Roger Bray is a whole new assembly for £140. Porsche UK also looks as if it's the complete assembly.

Any advise would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Ask me how many times my side mirror get's smashed in rallying

I've simply stuck on one of these now:

Although that's not exactly the one I bought but it gives you the idea. Bought mine so long ago I forgotten where it came from now. Just make sure it looks a good quality one as some can look pretty poor as a reflective surface. Damn site cheaper than a mirror and does the job.

I got a piece the right shape cut at my local glass merchants for about £8 and it fits right back in with the gasket.

If you have the pieces stick them together with tape and take it to your local glass place.

If you can't stick the pieces back let me know as I might have a template

Thanks Stuart,
Duck tape has saved the day and it'll be a trip to the glass merchant tomorrow.
£8 sounds good to me.

Can I suggest Simon, when you have the wing mirror off the 914, that you take the lower inside nut off and remove the inners and lower mount from the upper.
There it’s a high chance that it will be corroded together with white powder and will need freeing up.
Clean and grease and then it can be adjusted easily and next time the mirror gets knocked it moves, which hopefully will save the glass.
